A jewel of the Richibucto River Resort in New Brunswick is our three-storey log chalet that offers a panoramic view of the Richibucto River.
The history of the river’s name comes from an Amerindian legend. It is believed that “The Great Spirit” told the Chief of the Algonquin Tribe of the Great Lakes that there was a wonderful land “in the direction of the sunset, along a superb river of fire.”
The Chief sailed off to find this amazing river. When he entered Richibucto harbour he saw a sunset, “a flamboyant red sky that was mirrored in the water.” He settled there and name the community Richibucto meaning “river of fire.”
From the chalet with its five unique log-furnished bedrooms and three bathrooms, you can see the banks of the river where Andrew Bonar Law once strolled for inspiration. He was the only person born outside of Great Britain ever to become Prime Minister of Britain.
